DAY 7 - 16TH JANUARY 2018

Beautiful end to the day
Travelling Day
Today we moved South and travelled from Venice back to The Everglades, after a very fond and emotional farewell to Alison and Jim. They have even left the bedclothes on in case we come back north! We went to investigate the town of Venice. We had been in for dinner but not for a wander around. It is a very pretty town with a lovely beach and pier and being the beginning of the season there were not many people around. However, there are trillions of parking places so I dread to think why it is like in high season.

The journey south was only meant to take a couple of hours but it took about 6! The traffic was so bad and the traffic lights take so long.

We are now back in the Everglades at a resort that is spread around a harbour with lots of birds, ospreys, egrets, flamingoes to name but a few. The harbour is full of manatees, but the water is rather brackish so you only see their noses when they come up. Not very photogenic.

We had read that the restaurant here is not good but still we thought it would be OK. It wasn't. Geoff's chicken was raw. After sending it back it still came back raw. In the end they did not charge us for it.

Off to bed very very early to watch a bit of TV.
