Balloons everywhere at the museum

Today our itinerary included the Petroglyph National Monument and the Balloon Museum. The trails at the monument were all over rocks. I got so far but did not fancy risking a sprained ankle! Geoff went off to the top and I sat in the sun and watched for lizards! Our second visit was to the Balloon Museum. It is where the huge Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta takes place every year. Unfortunately it is always in October so not our time of year. We have been there before but it is still just as entertaining, It is quite interesting that one of the foremost personalities in the ballooning world, Richard Branson, only gets a mention as making a failed attempt to cross the Atlantic! You would think the Americans were the only people to achieve anything in the ballooning world. However, it is a brilliant museum and nice to revisit.

Geoff then took us on a mystery trip to the Sawmills Market. Turned out to be one of those wonderful places with lots of different food stalls where you can pick what you want and they have huge eating areas. We will be going back later this afternoon for our evening meal. They have live music too. A very interesting place. Tomorrow we ride a bit of Route 66. We have been west from Albuquerque before, but never west.
